ADA law lets you legally crack the DRM if there's no usable version available. And as far as we've been able to sort out, cracking DRM for personal use is legal anyway ... it's just that distributing the crack programs is illegal, even if it's for legal purposes.
But DRM removal is a pain, and I haven't noticed any lack of wonderful things to read that aren't infected with DRM, so I just skip the Big 6 publishers when I look for ebooks.
