四十, by trascendenza (19500 words), based primarily on Chinese mythology with some subtle references to Firefly. Amazing story. The one drawback is that most (all?) ereaders do not handle hanzi, at least not without some serious hacking (I have not figure out how to do this on my Sony, if it's even possible).
Rosemary for Remembrance, by gehayi (11170 words), an amazing subversive feminist reimagining of Hamlet in space.
