The Liaden books on my to-read list rather after P.C. Hodgell's "God Stalk" chronicles. I read the first one as a teenager and it was a longtime favorite; I only recently discovered there were more. (There are, unfortunately, *two different listings* in Webscriptions for "God Stalk Chronicles," one of which seems to be a collection of multiple books, and one is... something else. Two books combined, maybe?)
I want to buy those and find out if they hold up as well as the Sime~Gen novels did; those were also teen favorites, and I still enjoy them.
All the hype about "the future of publishing" seems to miss the fact that it's the past of publishing that's now a serious competitor for sales. That we aren't done exploring what's already available. (Cue rant. And wow, I went over to the Archdruid report for a link to an article I remembered about economics, and guess what's new? An article about literary history and how we're losing it.)
