squee!Book Part II

In sad news, squee!Book's epubs have mostly been broken for me since I posted this entry last week. If I load them directly to my ereader, I get a Page Error when I try to read them. If I convert from epub to epub in Calibre, it does this crazy thing where it treats 10...or 50... pages as if they are one page. While I have gotten it to work on occasion, it's not working more than it is working.

:(

Have you looked at any alternatives? I personally use FLAG (http://www.flagfic.com/)... though it unfortunately doesn't appear to support Livejournal or Dreamwidth, it supports most other major sites, including AO3 and fanfiction.net. I've found it to generally be super-good.

In the longer term, we're probably looking to switch Wraithbait from eFiction to AO3's model when it's released to other archivists, or something other than eFiction. I know that doesn't help now, but I suspect many other archives might do something similar as ereaders continue to grow in popularity.

I was also hoping to switch the Angst Archive over to the A03 model. :)

Are you using Version 2.1 If so, you could pop across to the bugs page and report a problem. [livejournal.com profile] halcyon_shift is pretty good at responding to problems, they might be able to help.

I'm not currently having problems commenting - would you like me to leave a comment pointing them towards this post?

I had the same issues with squee!Book, although I assumed it was because the fics I was trying to convert to ebooks were all hella long. Since then, I've imbedded Grab My Books into my browser, and that's been great for me.

It does do that - I have done it! I think all the fic I've converted with it have been multi-page fics.

It's within the first 2 minutes of the video (b/c I never watched more than that).
But basically, you grab one page, then close the window that pops up in the lower-right.
Then you grab the next page and close the window again.
Keep grabbing pages until you've grabbed them all.
Then right-click and select "Grab my book!" A new tab should open in your browser, and then you can edit pages in the e-book if you want. (Delete stuff like, "Go to chapter 2" or something, if you want.)
Then somewhere on the top, you can hit "save" and download your .epub/etc file.

Let me know if this doesn't help and I can be more specific!
