Hi again!
So my Sony PRS 600 is kinda failing me, because if I leave it alone for too long the print just fades like woah and the ghosting gets bad. I live in Asia tht is NOT Japan so Sony here doesn't repair it.
My sister is in the US at the moment and will return home for a break in September - so I'm looking into asking her to buy an e-reader.
Question for you all!
a) I really, really like the Sony T1, though I wish there was a way to get it to read Chinese.
b) but at the same time, it doesn't have a case for it and I don't want it to get broken or anything.
c) is the Sony PRS 650 still available in the US anywhere for the same cost of the T1 but cheaper?
d) are there any other ereaders that can also read ePub formats, have PEARL screens, and are about the same price? WiFi capabilities not needed, I have calibre and can use that to arrange all my books. Storage also not important because I intend to take off books I've finished reading to store and rearrange in my computer.
Just... basically, what I like about the sonys is that they are slim, classy looking, and have good functions in terms of being able to read quite a few book formats, AND have a good variety of font-size. I don't particularly care if the font is ugly or anything, becaue I tend to forget it while I read.
e) I don't want the kindle because I kind of don't want to be stuck with a Amazon-type books.
So.... anyone can give me some models I can look into? I'm also vaguely interested in colour-ereaders, wouldn't mind taking a look (Though I know that the colours are kinda washed out at the moment, and anyway I'm not reading comics, just ebooks)
Also, would like advice on how long to expect a Pearl screen device to last. I feel as though I didn't get enough mileage out of my 600 and I don't want to dispose of it or anything but I don't know what to do with it if it won't read very well. :(
ETA: Thanks for your suggestions! I've been looking at the Kobo, the Sony T1, and since I found it mentioned elsewhere, the Onyx Boox. Then I found out that they are going to try and roll out plastic screens (rather than glass) for a couple of readers, so I'm going to try and wait it out to see.
I really like the Sony T1 though, so I'll wait and see what else is gonna come up. THANKS GUYS.
Still won't mind any other suggestions/reviews of the newer ereaders.
